A TODDLER was mauled and her mum bitten in a terrifying park attack by a “pitbull-type” dog.

The two-year-old girl was dragged to the ground after the dog sank its teeth into her ankle.

And when her mum tried to pull the dangerous dog off the tot, it bit her too.

The youngster was last night recovering from her ordeal in Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

And police are hunting the animal and its owner, who lifted the dog and fled after the attack in Brodie Park, Paisley.

Inspector Alison Kennedy said: “The girl is being treated for injuries to her ankle and foot following the attack on Saturday.

“This was a frightening experience and it’s imperative we trace the dog and its owner.”

The inspector appealed to witnesses and regular park users to come forward with any information which could help them trace the owner of the dog.

He is described as white, in his 30s and about 6ft with a slim build. He has short, dark, curly hair.
