The fate of a pit bull believed to have attacked and killed its owner remains undetermined, with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office considering its options.
The dog is one of two pit bulls deputies believe killed 45-year-old Debra Wilson-Roberts. An autopsy confirmed severe bites from the animals resulted in blood loss that caused her death.
One pit bull was put down on the scene due to aggressive behavior, but the other one remains in Pine Bluff Animal Control custody.
Under a county ordinance, law enforcement can either euthanize the animal or return it to the owners.
We’ve been told a family member has expressed interest in taking the animal, but the sheriff’s office hasn’t made a decision on how to move forward, given the dog’s involvement in the deadly attack.
