Do you have use for your nose or like to smell things – DO NOT OWN A PIT BULL – Pit bull bites the nose off of 10-year-old Ky. boy

Deputies say a 10-year-old Kentucky boy had his nose bitten off by a pit bull on Wednesday.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was visiting friends and the dog had apparently eaten the nose after biting the boy.

Authorities and animal control came and took the dog to a veterinarian who found the boy’s nose in the dog’s stomach. The nose was taken to the emergency room where the boy was being treated.

The sheriff’s office says according to the dog’s owner, the dog has never shown aggression. He’s reportedly had the dog since a puppy.

The owner told deputies the 10-year-old boy was over visiting friends and playing with the dog. The three children were getting rowdy and the wife of the owner told the juveniles to calm down, and the dog calmed down as well.

When the 10-year-old sat down on the couch, he started to stare at the dog, and the dog lunged at the boy, biting and swallowing his nose.

There’s no word on the dog’s condition.

Police: 44-year-old woman in critical condition after pit bull attack – Could be the second fataility of 2013 by pit bulls in less than 10 days

A 44-year-old Upstate woman is in critical condition after she was attacked by pit bulls overnight, according to Spartanburg Public Safety Capt. Art Littlejohn.

Littlejohn said that at about 2 a.m. police were called by someone who said they heard a woman being attacked by dogs.

Officers reached the location in the 700 block of South Center Street within three minutes, police said.

The incident report said an officer saw two or three dogs “biting/eating” a woman who was lying on the ground.

The officer said he shouted at the dogs and kicked leaves at them, and they started to run away, but returned to attacking the woman.

One of the dogs turned toward the officer and was shot and killed.

A second dog charged at an officer, but ran off when shots were fired. The officers kept that dog and a third dog away from the victim while EMS treated the woman and took her to the hospital.

The woman has been identified as Dreamer Denise Rice, who lives on South Center Street.

Littlejohn said Rice suffered bites to her arms, legs abdomen and face. Police said her wounds are very serious.

The owner of the dogs lives over the city line in Spartanburg County, so the Spartanburg County Environmental Enforcement Unit is working with Spartanburg Public Safety on the case.
The EEU has issued three citations against the owner for the dogs not having current inoculations. Police said more charges may be filed.

The two surviving dogs were seized by Animal Services officers.

The Humane Society, that described the dogs as pit bull mixes, said the dogs will remain in quarantine while the investigation continues. The dogs will be held for at least five days. At that point, the Humane Society vet, DHEC and law enforcement will make a decision about what action to take.

Pit Bull Attack: Maleik Carr, 11, Fights Off 2 Dogs to Save Sister’s Life

Eleven-year-old Maleik Carr was bitten 23 times on his legs and suffered four more bites on his hands as he fought off two vicious Pit Bulls which entered the family’s backyard in Dublin, Georgia, and attacked his 5-year-old sister, Jalia.

Maleik is now recovering after emergency surgery from the incident. His legs are covered in stitches and puncture wounds.

His father, Willie Carr, told 13 WMAZ-TV, “It hurt me to my soul when I saw those cuts. It was very hard not crying in front of him because he was already so strong, and I wanted him to continue being strong.”

Maleik and Jalia were walking through their backyard on Monday morning to catch the schoool bus, as they did every day. Suddenly two aggressive Pit Bulls escaped from a neighbor’s yard through a large hole the dogs had torn in the fence and begin to attack Jalia.

“The brown and white dog ran to the other side, jumped out of the fence and the black one did too, and they started snapping at Jalia. So I ran over there started kicking them away from her, and they bit me. And I told Jalia to run,” Maleik told reporters.

Jalia ran across the street as Maleik continued to fend off the two Pit Bulls. When they started biting on his legs, he took his sister’s toy chair and began beating them with it. He battled them long enough to get to where he could hop over his own fence to the street. His distraught older sister was waiting there with Julia and she rushed them both to the hospital, according to

“I was hurt, scared, and after all was said and done, angry,” Ms. Carr said, “because more care wasn’t taken to make sure these dogs didn’t hurt anyone.”

The dogs now are confined, Laurens County Animal Control director Don Bryant told the NY Daily News. Charges against the owners are pending.

Both parents are proud their son was so quick to save his sister. “They will react to protect each other at all costs,” Sherry Carr told WMAZ-TV.

“It makes me so proud. It makes me so proud to have this hero in my house,” she said.
